Command Line Access to Emails

I’m looking to see if there is an easy way or ability to access emails from a command line. Long story short I would love to have a list of emails showing in a drop down (Gnome Extension) that allows me to quickly find emails based upon a persons email address.

Think smart folders but in the form of an extension, and upon clicking on it, I would like for it to take me to mailspring to read them, but just a quick list of those with subject. There might be an API I could use to do this as well, but this would be very beneficial.

I second this. Of course there are other tools for this, but it would be very useful for me being able to list and retrieve e-mails and attachments, for automation purposes, using Mailspring as an authentication layer.
