3 * Mailspring (Android, MacOS, Linux) accessing same IMAP mailbox -> lost mails

Hej,

I am using Mailspring on MacOS X and Android and recently added Mailspring 1.16.0 on Ubuntu Linux. All accounts use the same IMAP mailbox.

Unfortunately it seems that this setup results in lost emails: my “Inbox” is different depending which client I am using:

  • Deleting mails on Android will still show them on Mac OS X
  • Mailspring Ubuntu misses an entire month of emails (January, approx. 350 mails) - there is just a gap between December and February
  • I do not see emails on Mac OS X which I see on Android or Linux

Is accessing the same Mailbox from multiple Mailspring not supported?

IMAP is designed to be used from multiple clients simultaneously — that’s not the issue here. For the missing emails (350 messages from one month): try Preferences > General > Reset Cache on the affected machine to force a full re-sync from the server. If messages are also missing from the IMAP server itself (you can verify by checking in your webmail), they may have been accidentally deleted and moved to Trash.

Using Mailspring on multiple computers with the same IMAP account is fully supported and shouldn’t cause data loss.
