Emails going out are shown as initials if the receiving end is Avatar-equipped.

A way to let users to configure their own avatars, probably as a field in “Accounts”.

For gmail the avatar would be from the acccount-level settings.
Also available as account settings in several email clients.
Or 3rd-party services like Gravatar.
