Brume & Brume Ardoise: light pastel themes inspired by Liquid Glass
Hi everyone,
I made two light, minimal themes for Mailspring, designed around Apple’s Liquid Glass language (macOS 26):
- Brume: soft lavender chrome, periwinkle accent.
- Brume Ardoise: the same theme with a slate sidebar and a coral accent, a nod to Darkside.
Both share the exact same rules: Ardoise only changes colors, so spacing and behavior are identical.
Highlights
- Frosted glass only on floating layers (popovers, menus, search suggestions); content stays opaque.
- Resizable sidebar up to 420pt, 32pt rows, right-aligned counters.
- Rounded selection pills, subtle separators, message cards, a floating composer action bar.
- Restyled recipient tokens, attachments, undo toast, snooze popover, switches, preferences.
- Respects Reduce transparency, Reduce motion and Increase contrast; text meets WCAG AA.
Install
- Download
brume.ziporbrume-ardoise.zipfrom the latest release. - Unzip, then Mailspring > Install Theme… and pick the folder.
- Quit and relaunch Mailspring (the preloaded composer window and the sidebar width only update after a restart).
Built and tested on macOS; it should work elsewhere, but the toolbar capsules are macOS-specific. Feedback and screenshots of rough edges are welcome!
