Confused - Is Mailspring just a web style email client?

Sorry for the newbee/dumb style question however I am trying to understand if Mailspring is like an Opera or Chrome etc.

Is it just a mail client to other email hosters, or, can I set up a server side mail server hosting environement for a proprietary service ?
Does Mailsprint connect to an available Mailspring email server so I could deliver an inhouse email solution ?

Mailspring is an email client, just like thunderbird, mailbird, spark. If you want to host email, you need to look at something like SmarterMail Business Email and Collaboration Server or https://mailinabox.email/ and many more
