Hello.

Is there a way to disable hardware acceleration? On my 240Hz display the UI is blurry. Windows 10, nVidia RTX 3080.

Yes, on Windows there’s now a supported way to run Mailspring with hardware acceleration off (added in 1.24.0 as part of the GPU crash recovery, so update first if you’re on something older):

  1. Quit Mailspring.
  2. Open %APPDATA%\Mailspring in Explorer (paste that into the address bar).
  3. Create an empty file there named exactly disable-hardware-acceleration (no extension).
  4. Launch Mailspring.

While that file exists, Mailspring starts with Chromium’s GPU rendering disabled and clears the GPU shader cache on the first launch. Delete the file to switch acceleration back on. There’s no Preferences toggle for it, but the marker file is permanent so it’s a one-time setup.
