Enter/backspace bug & freeze on mail folder move

Since the recent update, solving the up and down arrow issue, a few new bugs have popped up.

  1. In the composer, enter and backspace have to be pressed multiple times before the software will register the key press. Once it registers the key press, it will work normally until you begin typing again and try to create a new line or use backspace to remove text.
  2. The move to folder function locks up every time I start typing the name of the folder, to the point that even after waiting for the system to become responsive again, moving the file rarely works

Yes - I’ve noticed the Return key issue on MACOS - takes several presses - also entering a name from the address book does not seem to work when you select, click or hit return.

Same here, ENTER key and BACKSPACE key stumble within the composer. I thought it was a spell check issue, turned that off to no avail.

Setup if interesting at all: Mailspring 1.17.1-dd5b3e56, OS Windows 11 Pro 25H2, Hardware Logi MX Mechanical BT

I upgraded 1.17.1 on Macos 15.7.3 M1 Mini, 2020 today Jan 19 2025— and in Mailspring typing is not always recognising key presses. Especially the Return key. I have tested other apps and webpages and they work fine. I have restarted my Mac.

Looks like it’s not OS specific given the posts here..

Whoa - thank you for reporting these issues, the key presses thing is really odd. I don’t think I’ve noticed it happening but I’ll try to reproduce both of these issues and keep you posted. I think these are both dealbreakers that need to be chased down.

Another issue to note: Tags seem to be affected, but by any character that isn’t a letter. I need to press the key once if I’m filling a tag with a number or symbol, but not for a letter.

I came here with the same problem. I was persisting with this problem but typing an email just now I started hitting my keys very hard in frustration.. Had to vent!
