I created a Gmail account and set my “Sender Name” to my name, Chris. However, when I send a new message to myself and type my name, it shows my email address in brackets (which is fine), but the Sender Name appears as “Mailspring Team.” How is this even possible?
I’ve attached a screenshot for reference.
I get that this is open-source software and much of it relies on user support, but a bug like this really shouldn’t be happening. Also, I’m not a coder so I wouldn’t even know where to look. Thanks!
That is very strange. Can you go to “Windows” → “Contacts” and search there for your E-Mail address and check how it is displayed there?
When your mail account is connected initially, Mailspring sends a confirmation e-mail and maybe this mail is in your sent folder and it is picking up the name (falsely) from there. If that is the case, finding and deleting this mail might resolve the issue.
Thanks for the help, Phylu. I did find my email address associated with MailSpring Team in my Contacts and my Sent folder. I deleted both emails from the Sent folder but when composing to this email address, the name remains to be from “Mailspring Team”.
If I go back to my Contacts, it seems I’m able to delete the contact. What happens if I do? I would hate to lose emails associated with this email address.
