macOS Drag-and-Drop File Attachment Error

Description

On macOS 15.2 (Apple Silicon) with Mailspring 1.15.0, dragging a file from Finder onto a draft email in the Mailspring GUI brings up an Error window, “The “path” argument must be of type string. Received undefined”, and does not attach the file. Using the file attachment button in Mailspring and choosing a file with the dialog window works as expected.

To Reproduce…

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Start a new message or reply
  2. Drag a file from macOS Finder onto the draft window
  3. Error occurs

Expected Behavior

Dragging and dropping a file onto the draft window attaches the file to the email.

Setup

  • OS and Version: macOS 15.2
  • Mailspring Version: 1.15.0

Additional Context

I have the same bug in Windows 11. Since last update it is imposible to insert a image in the draft email doing drag and drop.

If I do copy and paste it works but not with drag and drop.

I’m having the exact same problem on Windows since the latest update.

Also having the same problem:

Mac OS: 15.1.1 (24B91)

Mailspring: Version 1.15.0 (1.15.0)

Wasn’t having this issue before update.

Same here -drag and drop attachment fails OS 15.2, Mailspring 1.15.0

Same issue here.

Running macOS 15.2, Mailspring 1.15.0.

Same issue on MacOS

I can confirm this issue. I am not sure, when I get to it, but I try to provide a fix, as I am sure this will be annoying to me as well.

I created a task for me to tackle it: Drag & Drop Bug · Issue #2494 · Foundry376/Mailspring · GitHub

Luckily the attachment button works as a workaround.
