Mark trashed and spam messages automatically as read

When I delete messages or mark them as spam, I would like also to be considered as read. The same goes with messages that get automatically flaged as spam.
I checked Mail rules, but it can only perform actions on stared messages. I can’t find such setting in general settings either.
Is this possible to set up?

Provide option to automatically mark deleted & spam messages as 'read'

Good idea. Perhaps raise as a Feature Request in the relevant area of the forum?
