Description

Laggy typing. Message is unexpectedly sent before I click “Send”!

Steps to reproduce the behavior

  1. Start typing a message.

Expected Behavior

  1. No lag in typing.
  2. Message is not unexpectedly sent.

OS & Program Versions

  • OS and Version: Win 11 Pro
  • Mailspring Version: 1.20.1-2b045d7e

Two things that likely address this:

  1. Update to v1.21.1: The v1.20.0–v1.21.0 updates included fixes preventing global keyboard shortcuts from firing inside the composer. It’s possible the Enter key (or another shortcut) was triggering send. Please update to v1.21.1 (released May 19, 2026) and see if the issue recurs.

  2. Check your send shortcut: Go to Preferences > Shortcuts and confirm the send shortcut is set to Ctrl+Enter (not just Enter). If “Enter” alone is mapped to send, that could explain accidental sends while typing.

If it happens again after updating, please note the exact key sequence you were typing when the send occurred — that will help us narrow it down.
