New version notification does not respect "dismiss"

Description

Each time Mailspring is opened, an attention-grabbing notification about new version pops up. It happens regardless if I already dismissed this notification earlier.

To Reproduce…

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Cold-open Mailspring
  2. On “New version” notification click “dismiss”
  3. Exit mailspring
  4. Open Mailspring. Notification is back.

Expected Behavior

When user clicks “dismiss”, it should be assumed that user was notified about this available version and should not be bugged again until next version.

Setup

  • OS and Version: CachyOS
    • Installation Method: Shelly
  • Mailspring Version: 1.21.0

Additional Context

Most similar “bug” (more like a feature request) is by @marek2001, asking to remove these notifications completely. It would work well for many on Linux, who update their systems in batches, but I think, that should be at least optional.

So, I also support an alternative solution: option to disable these notifications entirely. For example, among other notification settings, something like that:
