Search emails doesn't work

I don’t understand it, but Mailspring (Mac) does not find emails that match the search criterion, even though it is set to search all emails. I can readily confirm this by using other email apps I use. I didn’t see anything os the settings that might fix this. I’d appreciate any help/

Search runs against Mailspring’s local index rather than asking the server, so the usual reasons another client finds something Mailspring doesn’t are:

  1. The words are in the body of an older message. Headers (sender, recipients, subject) are indexed for everything once the initial sync finishes, but message bodies are only indexed for roughly the last three months plus any older messages you’ve opened. For older mail, search by sender or subject (from:acme subject:invoice) rather than a phrase from the text.
  2. The wrong account is selected. The search box searches the account highlighted in the sidebar — pick All Accounts first to search everything.
  3. It’s in Trash or Spam. Those are excluded until you click Search messages in trash and spam at the top of the results.
  4. Old mail hasn’t been synced yet. If the account was added recently, older messages may still be arriving: Why don’t I see all my old mail? — Mailspring Documentation

The operators (in:, before:/after:, has:attachment, AND/OR/NOT) are listed here: Search with advanced, Gmail-style queries — Mailspring Documentation
