I have just set up Mailspring. However, today’s emails appear with the awful American AM/PM format which I find really irritating. How do I set things to use the 24 hour clock (my Mac is already set up to use the 24 hour clock)?

Open Preferences > General and check Use 24-hour clock — it’s in the first block of checkboxes at the top of the page. Mailspring doesn’t read the clock format from macOS, so it defaults to 12-hour, but that option flips the message list, message headers, and the other timestamps to 24-hour time immediately.
