Unread emails show as read automatically

Hello all!

Me, as well as my colleagues have been facing the following issue:

Upon receiving a new email (whole new correspondence), emails show up as unread.
If it is a new mail in an existing correspondence, it is automatically marked as read.

We’ve been trying to troubleshoot this for about 2 months now with no luck. Exact same issue on both windows 10 and 11 systems.

The only person that doesn’t face this issue runs on windows 11 as well, but he uses multiple accounts within the same client.

Any ideas? Thank you all in advance!

Check your reading preferences: go to Preferences > Reading and look at “Mark messages as read after displaying for ___ seconds.” It may be set to 0 (mark read immediately on click) or a very short interval. You can increase it or set it to “Never” to mark messages read only when you explicitly choose to.
