Use the Open Build Service for native packaging

There’s a free service by the SUSE folks over at https://openbuildservice.org/, which allows you to set up a package that is then automatically built for all major Linux distributions.

Benefits:

  • It creates automatic update repositories for all major Linux distributions.
  • It builds from source.
  • People won’t have to manually download RPM/DEB files anymore.
  • You reach more distros!
  • Easier for the users! They can update via their native software apps (such as GNOME Software) if the repo is added to their computer.
  • It’s easier to recommend Mailspring to newbies when it can auto-update.
