"We encountered a problem with your local email database..." during upgrade from 9 t o 10 in Windows 11

I use Mailspring in Windows 11. I was presented with a popup to upgrade. After allowing this, I was presented with a window:
“We encountered a problem with your local email database. We will now attempt to rebuild it.
\?\C:\Users<user>\AppData\Local\Mailspring … better_sqlite3.node is not valid Win32 application.”

Clicking OK near instantaneously presented the same window, ad infinitum. I had to kill the process using task manager.

To Reproduce…

Steps to reproduce the behavior:
Recreating the update prompt is impossible as the installation is now broken.
Cleaning out Mailspring directories under AppData\Local and AppData\Local returned nearly the same behaviour.

Expected Behavior

Succesful upgrade

Additional Context

Also facing the same issue on Windows 10 with 1.10

Tried rebuilding from source, no luck!

Can reproduce, and confirm that clearing AppData folders and letting those databases regenerate has no effect. It looks like the UNC path that’s attempting to be used.

Also, interesting that the title bar mutates.

I’ve returned back to 1.9.1
you can download exe or dmg from here

Happened to me too. Shit sucks.

I have the exat same issue, it’s driving me crazy. How can we fix this ?

Hello everyone, please checkout this post I made, this might help you as well, at least, I hope so: Database Error and unable to launch app after installing V1.10.0 - #11 by Predeactor
