Got the 1.17.2 update today and now I cannot send emails. Mailspring reports auth failed and I should check username and password.
Ive been through support with my mail provider (spacemail) and all is set up as it should be. I can log in to my webmail with my credentials, so they are correct. Spacemail support say;
“In this case, I recommend contacting the support team of this SMTP app. They may have released an update to their application that caused the issue, or the ports might have been closed on their end. It’s better to clarify this with their support.”
This sending failure happened just after the update. Receiving mail is fine.
Easy enough in the end. Backed up Mailspring folder in Appdata , uninstalled and reinstalled 1.17.1 and issue is resolved. Didnt need the backup, but prudent to have in any case.
No problem.
For the rollback, i simply used previous installer from the GitHub releases page, an all went smoothly (apart from the popup at start asking you to update, but it’s a small annoyance for being able to send mails again)
Thanks for this - I have the same problem with the update. Interestingly it is not consistent, my Google accounts are sending fine. I don’t think they use a different protocol?
Edit: I rolled back fine just downloading and running the 1.17.1 installer for Windows, thanks for the tip @anthrax132 !
1.17.1 and 1.17.2 have problems.
I had a problem with Hotmail not signing in and rolled back to 1.16 and it worked or was it a microsoft thing?
Now the rollback with hotmail/created logged in ok but there is no hotmail account showing in left column?
The only way I can the hotmail account is in left column when resetting the cache when it says “scanning”.
Love this software and it has been very dependable.
I haven’t seen anything public about this yet. Do follow @Radiokot’s suggestion further up in this topic, and click the vote button at the top of the Bug Report. This shows Mailspring that this bug is affecting you, which should affect how soon they fix it.
Either access your mail provider via their webmail interface, or roll back mail spring to an earlier version.
Rollback worked for me. I backed up the mail spring folder in appdata, uninstalled the app and installed v 1.17.1.
Turned out it picked up all my settings and mails so I didn’t need to reinstate the backed up folder, but it was reassuring to know it was there, just in case.
