Help requested - Broken Update 1.14.0 on win 8.1

hello help

Is anyone at mailspring Dev going to advise me on the best version for a win 8.1 box!? I posted an issue requiring help but no help is there.

https://community.getmailspring.com/t/help-broken-update-1-14-0-and-email-re-update-your-billing-information/8805

I was running pro without issue until the 1.14.0 update then it vanished. I renewed my pro version payment card as requested but without some help that will be cancelled.

My attempt to run a previous version has not worked so far I am about to try again with 1.13.0

From this page advice on uninstalling folders by deleting, should I delete all of this in /Roaming before installing 1.13.0 or not?

https://foundry376.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001882612-Uninstalling-Mailspring

  • ~/AppData/Local/Mailspring = 3.87mb
  • ~/AppData/Roaming/Mailspring = 2.8GB
  • You may also need to remove a desktop shortcut

Getting a bit fed up with the lack of support.

Not likely. This project appears to be hardly alive at all. It appears like its getting the minimum attention required to keep it working.

I would delete everything related to MailSpring that you can find (uninstall it first), The install it again just like if you would have a new computer.

I don’t think you’ll get any help specific windows 8 help here. Windows 8.1 was end of life for a while already. Do yourself a favor and install windows 11 :grinning:

Hi

thanks for the reply. I have a range of boxes from different times, yeah that includes a win 11 box as well, the one with the shit OS that breaks all the software engineering design principles I ever came across

I keep the older ones going as they are still good as computers running various useful peripherals.

My 8.1 box is overdue an upgrade to win 10 that I have been too busy to perform.

I installed mailspring 1.13.0 on the 8.1 in the meantime, turned off updates and all is well for now.

Mailspring is far from dead but the old support email seems defunct unless they are sending an automated reminder about your subscription. Meanwhile mailspring seems to have been picked up by a new set of open source devs.*

Hoping support will improve.

Thanks again

cheers
